Amazing and helpful service. And great food the best meal I've had in months. Personal Favorites was Spicy Cold Noodle and Octopus Bibimbap with an amazing crust on the bottom from the stone pot

The weather was so hot that I went out to eat Korean cold noodles for the first time in a while. I ordered mul naengmyeon as the main dish and added spicy bibim naengmyeon noodles. The noodles are made by pulling them out directly in the store, so the taste is completely different from that of other restaurants that buy them from the supermarket. The broth is also top-notch. It has almost no seasoning smell, so the taste is not strong, but it is the style of Pyongyang Naengmyeon in Korea. You will know the taste of cold noodles after eating it 3-4 times. It is definitely ranked 2nd in the OC area for cold noodles. If you think the cold noodles taste bland and not very tasty, add a spoonful of salt/dashi.

Came here on a Saturday night, and it wasn't too busy surprisingly. No wait for a group of 8 people. First impression of this place was that it was authentically Korean, and the Korean aunties were very nice. Service was actually better than the service I would get in LA K town to be very honest. Prices seemed on average with the other traditional Korean places out there. Got the bibimbip and beef bulgolgi combo, and both items were delicious and top quality. The food was not heavily salted/greasy, and I didn't get that heavy feeling after a Korean meal. The group I went with really liked their dishes they got as well, and they really liked the portion size for their meals. Also they were very generous with their banchan dishes, and they were of good quality as well. I really like their fish cake banchan the most. In my opinion, this is one of the best Korean restaurants to try in So Cal, and if I'm ever back in the OC area, it would be worth to try their other items as well.

I think a good judge of a Korean restaurant is their banchan and at Sonamu it's delicious. They always have a large variety of banchan that they bring out w your food. Their menu has a large selection of foods. Service is top notch. We have two toddlers and they really cater to the kids. They always bring out rice and soup just for the kids that's not included in the bill. It's an easy and comfortable place to come to eat w the family. We really enjoy the food and so far haven't been disappointed with anything we have ordered so far.

Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. The menu items all sounded delicious and there were so many options to choose from. We decided to get the pig trotters and Napa wrap with pork dish and the rice cake and dumpling soup. Once everything came out we were all just drooling over how many side dishes and food we got. The portions were ridiculously large and more than enough for our party of 3. There was no doubt we were going to take home leftovers since it looked like a feast. First off the dumplings are hand made and really delicious. The soup was light, hearty and warm at the same time. The rice cakes were thin and chewy as well. All of us ended up devouring the soup real quick. The pig trotters and the Napa wrap with pork came in two dishes with a bunch of kimchi, cabbage, lettuce, perilla leaves, garlic slices, sauce, and peppers so we had plenty of options to stuff ourselves with. The servers were really nice too as they checked in on us often and asked if everything was good. Overall we loved the service and everything that came out. With the amount of food you get, it's pretty worth the price. I would definitely come back again.

Overall 3.5. Customer service: 3.5 stars Food Taste: 4 stars Very Pricey: 2 stars This was a very expensive late dinner meal for two. We walked in just a touch past 8:30pm (their last call). They first refused us, saying they were closed. They did however allow us to be seated and wanted us to order some kind of bulgogi casserole which we didn't want. We ordered spicy squid stir fry. It came with too many noodles and boiled bean sprouts. We just ate the stir fry. $32 My friend ordered LA Galbi. Just a normal portion. $32. The taste was deep and savory. The grilled onions were nice. Rice we got served was white. It wasn't really warm. It was kind of dried out. But when we wanted a refill they brought out a really nice multi-grain rice that was fresher, tastier. The ban chans were delish. We were able to get a few refilled. They gave us the check as soon as we ordered b/c she said she had to pay her workers, their tips. Maybe if I go back during normal hours, it will be better next time. It's a good sign when you see senior Korean golfers eating somewhere that means the food is legit.

Sonamu is tucked in a small plaza and you could totally miss this gem! This is definitely your hole in the wall type of place and I would be gatekeeping if I did not tell you how amazing this place is. First of all, this place is huge so you don't really have to wait in line. The food is delicious and the portions are huge! I tried the Korean hotpot, Korean pork rib, Korean kimchi stew, and the veggie pancake! Everything was delicious including the banchan they give you. The veggie pancake was flavorful and not very oily. It had a crispy top and the veggies were fresh. The pork ribs were on the spicy side but had enough kick to keep me wanting more. The hotpot was interesting since it was fried but had a good amount of soup to balance out the flavors. Served with purple rice, this was a lovely combination of flavors. This is the place for you to have a large gathering. They were able to fit all 16 of us and it was super fun getting to know the owners. Sonamu is authentically Korean and everything was very homestyle. Coming here again when I am in the area!

What great quality and service at a reasonable price point! Their bossam (보쌈) (~$38) comes on a bed of marinated green onion mix and a side of all the things you need to create the perfect wrap. I was pleased to discover that the bossam was served on fire at your table. Really ups the quality of the meal. I also ordered their combo of grilled fish (갈치) and fermented soybean paste (청국장), and another order of the spicy noodle. Each dish was delicious. The fish had a salty grilled skin that pairs nicely with a scoop of rice. Parking could be difficult if you come in large groups. Parking spots are tight, not plentiful but sufficient.
